In-person Dog Training Versus Online Dog Training

Which is better?

Both in-person and online dog training have their own advantages and considerations. The choice between the two depends on your preferences, your dog's needs, and your specific circumstances. Here are some factors to consider for each option:

IN-PERSON DOG TRAINING

  1. Personalised Attention: In-person training allows for direct interaction with a professional dog trainer who can observe your dog's behaviour, provide immediate feedback, and tailor the training approach to your dog's specific needs.
  2. Hands-On Learning: You and your dog can benefit from hands-on demonstrations, real-time coaching.
  3. Socialisation: In group classes, your dog can engage with you in the presence of other dogs, helping with disengagement skills.
  4. Structured Environment: Training in a controlled environment can be especially helpful for dogs with more challenging behaviour issues.
  5. Accountability: Regular classes can provide a consistent schedule and help keep you accountable for your dog's training progress.

ONLINE DOG TRAINING

  1. Flexibility: Online dog training offers the flexibility to train your dog at your own pace and on your own schedule. This can be particularly convenient for busy individuals.
  2. Cost-Effective: Online courses or tutorials may be more affordable than in-person classes or private trainers.
  3. Variety of Resources: There's a wide range of online resources, from videos and written guides to interactive training platforms, which can provide a wealth of information on various training methods.
  4. Access to Expertise: You can learn from renowned dog trainers and behaviourists from around the world, even if they are not geographically near you.
  5. Suitable for Some Behaviors: Online training can be more effective for dogs with certain behavioural challenges, such as reactivity. It may also be a good option for dog owners who have some experience with training.

But, what if you don't have to compromise?  What if you don't have to choose between either in-person dog training or online dog training?  At On Cloud K9, our in-person dog or puppy training sessions are complemented by an online training course.  You and your dog will learn new games in the training sessions, but we only remember 20%-40% of what we're told, so the online part of the course will allow you to continue your training in between the training sessions.  The training course attendees have access to the complimentary online training course for 6 months after the course starts, so you've got a few months to refresh your memory with regard to the numerous articles on behaviour, health, equipment and diet.
